Cecilia Vicuña – El glaciar ido (The Lost Glacier) is the artist's first solo exhibition in an Italian museum. Feminist and ecological, her thinking focuses on issues related to the defence of democracy, freedom of expression and decolonial practices aimed at protecting the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples.

Performance, poetry, drawing, painting, video, minimal or monumental installations make up her artistic universe. The concept of precariousness informs Vicuña's art, which, since its inception in the 1960s, has coined the definition of “Precarious Art”.

The exhibition consists of a new commission created by Vicuña for the Manica Lunga, inspired by the human and geological history of the area. The exhibition will include a focus on the artist's poetic production and video works, bringing images, sounds and songs that have been an integral part of his practice since his debut to the project.

Colombano 500. Cinquecento anni del Pertus di Colombano Romean

2026 marks the 500th anniversary of the start of work on the Pertus di Colombano Romean, an extraordinary feat of Alpine engineering built between 1526 and 1533.

To celebrate this important anniversary, Colombano 500 has been launched, with a programme running from July to October and further initiatives also planned for 2027.

The programme begins on 4 July at the Fort of Exilles with the conference Beyond the Rock. The Pertus di Colombano Romean: history, science and alpine tradition, attended by scholars and experts from various fields. On the same day, the travelling theatre production The gift of water will make its debut; this new production by ArTeMuDa APS is dedicated to the feat of Colombano Romean, with further performances scheduled for August.

Over the summer, Pro Loco Exilles will organise night-time walks inspired by Alessandro Perissinotto’s novel The song of Colombano, whilst the film programme, organised in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum Association, will feature screenings dedicated to the theme of the mountains. Between August and September, the Colombano Romean Ecomuseum of the Cozie Alps Parks Authority will also organise guided tours of the Pertus.

On display is a selection of works by Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo and Nunzio, key figures of the so-called San Lorenzo School, the artistic movement that emerged in Rome between the late 1970s and early 1980s in the neighbourhood of the same name and which coalesced around the former Pastificio Cerere.

Whilst developing distinct and highly recognisable artistic languages, the three artists share an artistic approach that restores centrality to painting, sculpture, material and gesture, in dialogue with the legacy of tradition and contemporary sensibilities.

Opening on Thursday 13 August at 6.00 pm.

An evocative night-time re-enactment to tell the story and secrets from 1728 to the present day of Europe’s largest Alpine fortification, symbol of the Metropolitan City of Turin.
The tale lasts two and a half hours. It is a night-time and itinerant re-enactment inside the fortress. It takes place mainly in the open air along the walkways, the redoubts and the artillery emplacements, therefore clothing suitable for the place and the season is recommended. From 10 to 13 September, Pinerolo is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pinerolo Craft Fair with “Scatti. Moments of Stories. 50 Years of Craft, 200 Years of Photography”: 27 photography exhibitions spread across the town, distinguished guests, performances, good food, workshops and an entire town transformed into a narrative through photographs and craftsmanship.

Fifty years of history told through a single glance. That of the hands that create, of the people who pass on a craft, of the communities that change without losing their identity.

This year, the organisers have chosen to celebrate a double anniversary of great symbolic significance: the event’s 50th anniversary and the 200th anniversary of the invention of photography, commemorated through the theme “Scatti. Moments of stories. 50 years of Craftsmanship, 200 years of Photography’. From the first photograph taken by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826 to today’s smartphones, the image has chronicled the world and its changes. Similarly, over the festival’s fifty-year history, craftsmanship has documented the evolution of society, trades, production techniques and human relationships, whilst preserving intact the values that define it: creativity, skill, passion and the capacity for innovation. For this reason, the fiftieth-anniversary edition transforms Pinerolo into a vast open-air photographic gallery. The historic centre will host 27 photographic and art exhibitions, spread across squares, courtyards, museums, arcades and exhibition spaces. A journey that will guide residents and visitors through different artistic languages and sensibilities, interweaving fine art photography, historical memory, contemporary art, photojournalism, landscape and social commentary.

The first edition of Piccoli Mondi, a new festival dedicated to families and children: three days of performances, experiences and discoveries designed and created especially for the youngest visitors, including the very little ones aged from zero to three.

Featuring circus acts, juggling, theatre, music and walks exploring the city’s history, Piccoli Mondi offers performances for all ages, overcoming language barriers thanks to the artists’ physicality and their expertise in creating shows designed specifically for children.

The architectural and natural backdrop is provided by the town of Susa, set amongst the castle, the Parco di Augusto and the streets of the historic centre, offering a wide-ranging programme and moments of wonder hidden around every corner.

Notte Alpina. Ecosistemi, percezione e orientamento nel buio

L’attività, condotta dalla guida ambientale escursionistica Marion Vaglio Tessitore, propone di vivere la notte non soltanto come momento di osservazione del cielo ma come ambiente da attraversare e percepire attraverso l’ascolto, l’orientamento e la progressiva riduzione della luce artificiale.

Durante il cammino i partecipanti verranno accompagnati in attività di adattamento alla visione notturna, sperimentando il cambiamento della percezione visiva e spaziale nel passaggio dalla luce al buio. Particolare attenzione verrà dedicata all’ascolto attivo del paesaggio e alla costruzione di una semplice “mappa sonora” dell’ambiente notturno, identificando suoni, distanze e direzioni percepite nel buio.

Nel corso delle soste verranno affrontati temi legati all’inquinamento luminoso, alla fragilità degli ecosistemi alpini e notturni e alle modalità di orientamento della fauna. La sosta principale sarà dedicata all’osservazione del cielo e al riconoscimento delle principali costellazioni, con approfondimenti divulgativi sul rapporto dell’uomo con la montagna e la notte, accompagnati da una semplice bevanda calda condivisa.

Il ritorno lungo il medesimo itinerario permette ai partecipanti di confrontare la percezione del paesaggio prima e dopo l’adattamento al buio.

Il percorso si sviluppa interamente su strada sterrata di facile percorrenza per circa 5 km a/r e circa 150 m di dislivello: si raccomandano scarpe da trekking, indumenti adeguati e torcia frontale, possibilmente con luce rossa.

An initiative for the future of young people and the mountains

A day dedicated to nature, community and the future of the Upper Susa Valley. On Saturday 12 September, at Capanna Mautino in Cesana Torinese, the new ‘Traces of Nature’ Interactive Trail, created by Chaberton Outdoor Activities, will be officially opened, alongside activities from the Smart Village – New Generations for the Upper Susa Valley programme.

10.00 – 10.30 | Arrival at Capanna Mautino
10.30 – 11.00 | Ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches by officials
11.00 – 13.00 | Departure of guided walks in groups along the Interactive Trail

15:00 – 16:30 | Smart Village Interactive Workshop
A workshop designed specifically for young people aged between 18 and 40 to gather ideas, needs and opportunities regarding living, working and building a future in the mountains. The event will be attended by the managers of Capanna Mautino and the Chaberton Outdoor Activities association. With a special appearance by Giulia Tonelli, a graphic facilitator, who will oversee the visual mapping of the area.

Participation in the event is free of charge.
The Smart Village workshop is aimed specifically at young people aged between 18 and 40. To take part, please register by 10 September by emailing mistral@fondazionetime2.it.

We recommend comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking. The trek takes approximately 1 hour.

G.S.R. ALPINA, and RIFUGIO BARBARA LOWRIE, in collaboration with UPSLOWTOUR-PINEROLESE TERRA DI BICI, are organizing the 12th CRONOSCALATA DEL BARBARA.

This competition is unique due to the steep gradients of the route, which often exceed 20% and cover a difference in altitude of 1045 meters in just over 9 km!

Casa Lajolo in Piossasco is once again the beating heart of food, wine and green culture with the latest edition of the Festa degli Orti, dedicated this year to ‘The Flavours of the Earth’.

An event that transforms the mansion and its gardens into an open-air workshop, bringing together the haute cuisine of chefs such as Matteo Baronetto, Giorgio Vacchiano’s popular science presentations, guided tastings, hands-on workshops and a rich market exhibition featuring local producers.

At the heart of the initiative is an experiential journey guided by the five senses, designed to stimulate sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing through sensory trails in the dark, sessions dedicated to fermentation, olive oil, honey and even music paired with food.

Making this twelfth edition even more varied is the Festa degli Orti Off, the wider programme entitled ‘Dintorno: walk and discover’, which offers guided tours of open-air museums, vermouth tastings, cultural walks amongst the village’s historic chapels and nature walks in Monte San Giorgio Park.

Other new features include the launch of a shuttle service linking the village of San Vito to the town centre and, for trekking enthusiasts, the reopening of the scenic Strà d’j Babj trail, allowing visitors to hike up through the hillside.
