A classroom in a public school. It is office hour for an elementary teacher. She is tense, her mind is elsewhere, waiting for a phone call that never comes. At the interview, the mother of one of her students unexpectedly shows up. He wants to talk to her, but it will not be an easy dialogue. Her son was suspended a few days earlier, came home bruised, and she wants at all costs to understand why.

Seeking the truth is the only possibility to hold on to. Because, as a consequence of the fact, the son has committed something terrible, something irreparable... And only a very harsh confrontation between the two women can perhaps provide an answer to the pain that grips the two characters, to their bewilderment and to their mutual, suffocating guilt.

This is the ninth edition of the Almese theater festival organized by M.O.V. and FABULA RASA in collaboration with Piemonte dal Vivo, with artistic direction by Beppe Gromi, along with Katia Bolognesi, Francesca Zitti and Valeria Fioranti.

Seven dates between January 14 and May 27, 2023 at the Magnetto Theater with the aim of continuing to nurture the area's openness to art and sociality, with the conviction that the humanity of theater, the body languages of dance and the natural power of music can bestow important moments of entertainment and reflection, opening up sociality and respect for diversity.

Black Gold is dedicated to a special man, Joseph N'diaye, the keeper of the Slave House on Gorée Island off the coast of Senegal. Joseph dedicated his life to preserving the memory and igniting attention to one of the most inhumane tragedies in history namely the human trade and slavery.

Black Gold tells of slavery, racism and exploitation through the language of bodies, protagonists of the human aberration that, even today, continues in various forms. The narrative parable turns on a path that, from its origins, reaches to the present day, exploring a dimension that still does not see us emancipated from injustice and abuse. Live music and dance support and accompany the tale that will touch deep emotions.

This new creation continues the Black Fabula theatrical reception project, born in April 2015, from which the company of the same name was born, a dance-theater formation directed by Beppe Gromi, initially composed of ten young asylum seekers from different African countries and supported by the Fabula Rasa Onlus Associations, M.O.V. Moderne Officine Valsusa and the Municipality of Almese, which had welcomed 51 asylum seekers in January 2015.
