Floating Mountains - Dalla roccia al cambiamento

Contemporary art in dialogue with the Alpine region.

From 28 November to 30 December 2026 in Pragelato, four artists reflect on the changing mountain: no longer a symbol of immobility, but a landscape undergoing transformation amid climate change, the snow economy and new ways of living.

Four narrated tours taking in medieval frescoes, folk festivals and traditions linked to the cycle of the seasons, each exploring a theme related to a specific time of year: All Saints’ Day, St Martin’s Day, St Lucy’s Day and Christmas.

• 1 November, All Saints’ Day: Saints in Stone, Saints in Colour – a tour dedicated to the figures of the saints depicted on the church walls, a journey through Christian iconography, architecture and medieval art to interpret the symbols and images that reveal aspects of devotion and daily life in the Middle Ages

• 13 November, St Martin’s Day: The Cloak, the Earth and the Must – St Martin’s Day traditionally marked an important phase in the farming year, falling between the conclusion of agricultural contracts, the racking of the first wine and the arrival of the first cold spells. Proverbs, rituals and customs illustrate the link between spirituality, working the land and hospitality

• 13 December, Saint Lucy: Night and Light – a festival traditionally associated with the transition from darkness to light and the rituals that marked the anticipation of the end of winter. An opportunity to discover how medieval and rural communities coped with the cold season through their beliefs, customs and anticipation of the sun’s return

• 20 December, The Cradle in the Dark: The anticipation of the Nativity through art, the Gospels and popular devotion – with Christmas just a few days away, this tour explores the theme of the birth of Jesus through the works housed in the Precettoria. The focus is on the frescoes by Giacomo Jaquerio and Defendente Ferrari’s Nativity polyptych, linking the images to the accounts in the canonical and apocryphal Gospels and to the origins of the nativity scene tradition.

As part of the “In Arte Salus” project, the exhibition “Colors of Music” (“Colori della musica”)—featuring works by Salvatore Cataldo—will open on Saturday, October 31, at 3:00 PM.

The exhibition will be open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, until November 27.

• from 2.00 pm: a market featuring local producers and entertainment for children in a large area set aside just for them, with games and chat

• 3.00 pm: registration and submission of entries for the competition to find the 50 heaviest chestnuts and the heaviest pumpkin

• 4.00 pm: start of the hay bale rolling competition, a fun contest of strength, speed and skill in which participants compete to push a hay bale (rotoballa) along a circular course using only their hands

• 5.00 pm: concert by the band Fak’it Nabie

• 6.00 pm: prize-giving ceremony

• 7.00 pm: apericena featuring polenta crostini with lard and chestnuts, canapés with chickpea and chestnut mousse, pumpkin flan with blue toma fondue, prosciutto, salami and local toma cheese with compote, pasta and beans with or without pork rind, plus one drink of your choice (beer, wine or water). Takeaway available; bookings welcome.

In the afternoon: vin brulè and roasted chestnuts, sweet and savoury gofri, all accompanied by music from the Mattie Philharmonic Society.

BANG! Biblio, Art n’ Games

Pinerolo is hosting BANG! Biblio, Art n’ Games, the festival organised by Pinerolo Town Council and the Alliaudi Municipal Library, created to take the library beyond its walls and provide opportunities for people to come together around books, comics, games, illustration and new forms of creativity.

For three days, the town will come alive with meetings with authors, workshops, board games, talks and a large Artist Alley featuring comic artists and illustrators.

The programme is aimed at a diverse audience, with a particular focus on the younger generations, but is also open to families, enthusiasts and anyone wishing to discover new worlds and new forms of expression.

The event offers the opportunity to ‘borrow’ people who are willing to share their experiences on key themes such as identity, disability, migration, inclusion and empowerment, encouraging direct dialogue and discussion in small groups.

The Ex Chapel of the Fort of Exilles is hosting Beyond the rock: the journey continues, the closing event of the 2026 programme for Colombano 500, created to mark the 500th anniversary of the start of work on the Pertus tunnel by Colombano Romean, the extraordinary hydraulic tunnel carved into the mountain between 1526 and 1533.

• 3pm-7pm: official ceremony for the special postmark issued by Poste Italiane to mark the 500th anniversary of the Pertus

• 3.30pm: Roberto Micali and Renato Sibille retrace the history of the Pertus and the journey of Colombano 500, whilst also presenting the campaign to include the Pertus amongst the FAI’s Places of the Heart

• 3.45 pm: VAN-Verso Altre Narrazioni presents the musical reading The echo of the chisel

• 4pm: the writer, journalist and mountaineer Enrico Camanni speaks on the theme The Transformed Mountain, reflecting on changes to the Alpine landscape and the relationship between people, resources and the mountains

• 4.30 pm: launch of the Colombano 500 photography and literary contests, which will continue the story of Pertus into 2027

Visitors will be able to relive the customs and traditions of the nineteenth century, as if on a narrative ‘Grand Tour’ through the habits, comforts, difficulties and risks of travel, following in the footsteps of Ferdinando Lajolo – heir to the Chialamberto dynasty – and his reflections on life and travel.

From 1848 onwards, in a sparse, terse and precise style, he recorded in a diary of over 600 pages moments from his life, the customs of the time, his relationships with family members and his passion for poetry.

All this is accompanied by details of the means of transport used, the stops along the way, the costs, the hotels where he stayed, the must-see sights, the churches, the gardens and the curiosities of mid-19th-century Europe.

From Moscow to London, from Lisbon to Tangier, his journeys take shape as if in a modern travel guide.

Thirty students, thirty artistic journeys and, for many of them, their first experience of exhibiting in an art gallery.

At the NAAG-Novel Academy Art Gallery in Rivoli, The Great Collective Exhibition #1 opens, the first instalment of a major exhibition project dedicated to the students of Novel Academy.

Drawing, painting, watercolour and calligraphy come together in an exhibition that brings work created in the Academy’s classrooms into a real gallery, exposing it for the first time to the exhibition space and the public.

The Great Collective Exhibition was conceived to build a tangible bridge between artistic training and the exhibition experience. It is not a traditional end-of-course exhibition but a programme that will run throughout the 2026–2027 season for Novel Academy and NAAG, progressively involving around 300 students across four exhibition cycles.

The first instalment will feature 30 students with diverse experiences, techniques and sensibilities. It offers an opportunity to discover new artistic paths and witness the moment when the passion nurtured within an academy meets the walls of a gallery for the first time.

Museo Narrato: La Melodia della Pietra Viva

he second event of the Museo Narrato offers an immersive visitor experience designed to rediscover the collection: an evocative journey showcasing Maestro Giansone’s extraordinary ability to breathe life, vitality and movement into his materials, enriched by an intense performance that will give voice to his thoughts and creative spirit.

Pier Daniela Dolce and Antonio Cranco will guide the audience through the galleries, in a continuous dialogue between words and sculpture, enhanced by the evocative sounds of live jazz performed by Valter Calliero (tenor sax) and Roberto Fiore (electric piano), with a repertoire inspired by the sounds of American standards.

A beer tasting is planned to round off the event.

Museo Narrato: Storie di Vita

In the first of the two events organised by Museo Narrato, seemingly disparate stories intertwine, bridging the past and the present, and linking art and life.

An experience that winds its way through the works of Maestro Giansone via storytelling, music and tradition, creating a collaborative event that explores the artist’s deepest existential themes – such as war, femininity, animals and music – and rediscovers them in a fresh, ironic and contemporary light.

Guiding the audience on this journey through the artworks will be the narrators Pier Daniela Dolce and Alby Cantastorie. The tour will be accompanied by the evocative sounds of live jazz performed by Valter Calliero (tenor sax) and Roberto Fiore (electric piano), with a repertoire inspired by the sounds of American standards.

The Civic Archaeological Museum of the City of Susa – Adelaide Castle is opening seven new archaeological galleries to the public, showcasing over a century of research in the area.

The first is dedicated to the oldest artefacts, from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. The following six galleries trace the origins and development of Segusio: the agreement between Augustus and King Cozio, the arch erected in his honour, the forum and major public works, religious cults, daily life in the domus, and the necropolises.

• 5.00 pm – round-table discussion on new research findings with Federico Barello, Deborah Rocchietti and Luisa Ferrero (Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan City of Turin), Elena Cimarosti (University of Genoa), Maurizio Gomez Serito and Nannina Spanò (Turin Polytechnic)
