The ‘Dedicata’ concert season organised by the Pinerolo and Turin Music Academy Foundation continues with further high-profile events paying tribute to the great masters.

This concert showcases the refined musical interplay of four-hand piano playing by the Schiavo-Marchegiani Duo. With the concert *Four Hands with Schubert: 1*, the duo are the first performers in an ambitious three-year project by the Academy dedicated to exploring the Viennese master’s repertoire; they will perform the *Fantasia* D. 940, *Introduction, Variations and Finale on an Original Theme* D. 968a; *Lebensstürme* D. 947 and *Eight Variations on a French Lied* D. 624.

Since 2006, Sergio Marchegiani and Marco Schiavo have formed a duo acclaimed by audiences and critics alike for their highly personal style, the beauty of their sound and their overwhelming interpretative energy. With over 1,000 concerts to their credit in the world’s most prestigious concert halls (from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Philharmonie in Berlin, from the Musikverein in Vienna to Suntory Hall in Tokyo), they have collaborated with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and have recorded exclusive albums with Decca.

The concert will be preceded at 8.00 pm by the talk ‘Inseguire le note’ (Chasing the Notes), hosted by Claudio Voghera (free admission).

Teatro Fassino - Stagione 2026/2027

The Teatro Fassino in Avigliana opens its doors for a new season.

From December to April, five productions will be staged, along with a preview in November, to explore humanity amidst light and shadow: obsessions and loneliness, the longing for the future, intergenerational relationships, the masks of masculinity and the fear of a looming apocalypse, always with flashes of irony and glimpses of poetry.

The option to take out a season ticket for the entire season is back, and as a one-off event, there will be a special event featuring Cristiana Capotondi: because theatre remains a fundamental tool for understanding others and recognising ourselves in their stories.

Juliet, Giulietta vista con gli occhi di un clown

Juliet is an original reinterpretation of Juliet Capuleti's story through the pure and innocent eyes of a clown: a circus-theatre performance blending comedy, irony and poetry, exploring the madness of love and transforming Shakespeare's tragedy into a surprising and engaging theatrical experience.

Created and performed by Stefano Marzuoli, the show stems from an artistic exploration of Juliet's passion, innocence and determination in pursuing love: a single male performer brings the character to life through a predominantly non-verbal comic language, where storytelling becomes play and words turn into images.

Combining clowning, mime and singing, Juliet reveals the authentic essence of love's madness, moving beyond the tragedy of the original story.

In a suburb of Rome that resembles so many other suburbs around the world, the lives of a bunch of poor sods intertwine.

There is Job, an illiterate warehouse worker who has devised a method for organising the goods in the warehouse without being able to read a single word. There is the Old Woman who teaches the Prostitute that knowledge and culture do not require money: books in libraries are free, and museums open their doors once a month even to those who cannot afford to pay. There’s Joseph, who left his village, but before arriving in Italy was a gravedigger, an emigrant, a slave, a shipwreck survivor, a prisoner, a porter and a homeless man. And then there’s the racist, the Nosy Woman, the eight-year-old Gypsy boy who smokes, Domenica, the cooperative’s manager and even St Francis…

But when we take to the stage, not all of them are there. For each performance, we choose a couple of stories, a handful of characters. Just like in a concert where the musician chooses which different pieces to play and puts together a set list.

All these characters have something in common: they are the unsavoury types who end up in the newspapers when something serious or scandalous happens; they are portrayed as saints when a miracle occurs.

Avevamo vent'anni

The Resistance through the eyes of twenty-year-olds: a story of friendships, fears and choices that shaped the future of an entire generation.

*Avevamo vent’anni* (We Were Twenty), directed by Pierpaolo Congiu, brings the *La quarta parete* season to a close at the Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo.

Based on testimonies collected by Senator Elvio Fassone, the play retraces the years of the Italian Resistance from 1943 to 1945. At its heart are young men and women called upon to decide which side to take, as war and occupation enter their lives.

Doubts, bonds, losses and hopes bring out the human dimension of those experiences and invite us to reflect on the value of freedom and personal responsibility.

Terra e polvere (da sparo)

A single actress, many faces and a story of exile: masks become the means of telling the stories of lives forced to leave their homeland.

The Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo is staging *Terra e polvere (da sparo)* (Earth and Gunpowder), written by Vene Vieitez and starring Cecilia Scrittore.

Through rapid character changes, physical theatre and vocal work, the production tackles war, uprooting and loneliness: minimal stage design and a soundscape accompany a fictional narrative that echoes many real-life experiences.

At its heart lies life’s capacity to endure and start afresh, even when hatred and violence seem to have wiped out every possibility.

Shylock

A character on the fringes of the classic takes centre stage. It is Tubal, Shylock’s friend, who guides the audience through *The Merchant of Venice*.

The Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo is staging *Shylock*, starring Mauro Parrinello: in Gareth Armstrong’s adaptation, the Shakespearean story is retold through a voice that is usually secondary. Amidst irony, transformations and dialogue with the audience, the many interpretations of Shylock emerge, alongside themes of intolerance, loneliness and prejudice.

An encounter with Shakespeare that invites us to look beyond labels and to question the stories we have inherited.

Il circo capovolto

Ten large boxes, a lost circus and seven children capable of imagining a new beginning: Andrea Lupo brings *Il circo capovolto* to the Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo.

Branko flees Hungary and finds refuge in a Romani camp in Italy. He brings with him the remnants of his family’s circus, scarred by Nazi persecution. His encounter with seven children prompts him to tell his story and rekindles the possibility of bringing another circus to life.

A monologue that weaves together memory, marginalisation and hope, entrusting the imagination with the task of overcoming pain and transforming the legacy of the past.

Freely adapted from the novel by Milena Magnani.

Castagnole Gospel Choir

The Castagnole Gospel Choir is coming to the Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo: the voices and the Hammond organ, played by Alberto Marsico, come together in an evening dedicated to the energy and spirituality of gospel music.

Founded in Castagnole Piemonte in 2014, the choir, directed by Daria Moscatelli and Alberto Marsico, brings together people united by a passion for singing. Its repertoire spans spirituals, traditional gospel and rhythm and blues influences, weaving together vocals and musical accompaniment.

Io sono Jago

The Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo is staging *Io sono Jago* (I Am Iago), written by Giulio Federico Janni and starring Pierpaolo Congiu.

The character of Othello from Shakespeare’s play serves as the starting point for exploring jealousy, manipulation and the desire for possession. Through allusions and silences, the monologue demonstrates how language can become a tool of domination, leading to the extreme consequences of gender-based violence.

A production that examines relationships and individual responsibility, bringing the anxieties of the classic play into the present day.

Un'ora di niente

An evening to laugh at our desires, our frailties and that – often comical – gap between what we’d like to be and what we actually are.

Paolo Faroni opens the ‘La quarta parete’ season at the Teatro Incontro in Pinerolo with *Un’ora di niente*, a monologue that blends theatrical storytelling, stand-up comedy and cabaret.

At its heart lies love – a meeting ground and battleground between idealistic impulses and instincts, grand dreams and everyday needs. Faroni takes aim first and foremost at himself, exploring platonic loves, aspirations and contradictions with an ironic and poetic eye.

There are anniversaries that deserve to be celebrated, not just through memories but through a story that captures their very essence.

It is from this desire that *Che Dio ci aiuti. Speranza in trasferta!!!* was born – the new musical produced by the AriadiE20 Association to pay tribute to the 90th anniversary of the Istituto Maria Immacolata in Pinerolo, a place that for generations has embodied education, warmth and personal growth.

The audience will be taken on an emotional journey through memory, faith, music and hope via a show that weaves together humour, emotion and music in a narrative capable of engaging spectators of all ages.

Through moments of humour, choral musical numbers and deeply moving passages, the musical illustrates how the value of a community lies not only in its buildings or archives but, above all, in the people who have shared its history.

The theme chosen this year by the Vita e Pace Cultural Centre – ‘People, Figures and Personalities’ – is enriched by new collaborations and opens up to new cultural horizons, extending to the prestigious Villa Tesoriera in Turin, home to the Andrea Della Corte Civic Music Library.

This has given rise to a comprehensive programme of events dedicated to Andrea Della Corte, a leading figure in Turin’s and Europe’s cultural life during the first half of the 20th century: lectures, concerts, debates, a photographic exhibition and a documentary film will offer the public the opportunity to rediscover the many facets of his personality: a man of letters, writer, journalist, musicologist and a driving force behind the intellectual scene of his time.

Highlights:

• 16 October, 3.00 pm: opening ceremony, lecture by Orlando Perera and a concert in collaboration with the ‘Luca Marenzio’ Conservatoire in Brescia

• 23 October, 5.00 pm: a talk on Andrea Della Corte and 18th-century comic opera

• 6 November, 5.00 pm: Two aspects of Andrea Della Corte’s work in Turin: his contributions to music journals and his interest in composers, with a focus on his journalistic work and his engagement with the music scene

• 16 November, 4.00 pm: Andrea Della Corte and his colleague from the Department of Performing Arts, Maria Cristina Riffero, present the figure of Adele Morozzo Della Rocca, a lecturer in Performing Arts at the newly established “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatoire of Music in Turin and a colleague of Della Corte, who held the chair in Music History; the talk will be accompanied by musical performances by pianist Laura Domenica Brunetta

Alexander Lonquich. Inaugurazione Stagione concertistica Accademia di Musica

It is the German pianist Alexander Lonquich, one of the best-known on the international scene, who will open the new ‘Dedicata’ concert season organised by the Pinerolo and Turin Music Academy Foundation, as Maestro Richard Goode has been forced to cancel his tour of Italy due to a sudden illness.

Lonquich will perform Claude Debussy’s *L’isle joyeuse* and *Préludes II Livre*, and Franz Schubert’s Sonata in G major, D 894.

Alexander Lonquich established his international career by winning the Casagrande Competition in 1977. Recognised as one of the foremost interpreters of the classical-romantic repertoire, he has recorded for prestigious labels such as ECM and won the Abbiati Prize and the Diapason d’Or. Lonquich has always combined his work as a soloist with that of a refined conductor and an exceptional chamber musician (formerly conductor of the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza); he currently holds the post of Artistic Director of the Fiesole School of Music.

AThrough a network linking the municipalities of Avigliana, Bussoleno, Condove, Giaveno, Susa and S. Antonino di Susa, the festival aims to be an open space for people to come together and reflect, for the whole community. Guided by the international principle “Nothing about us without us”, the event promotes a culture of genuine accessibility, developing its activities directly in collaboration with families, associations, co-operatives and people with disabilities in the local area.

A rich programme featuring a wide range of expressive and artistic forms designed to stimulate social change and shift perspectives on concepts such as ‘normality’ and ‘diversity’:

• Theatre and Performing Arts: Performances arising from theatre workshops open to people of all abilities; shows with a strong social impact that address historical memory and current affairs; and the Ape Ridens national cabaret competition.

• Cinema and Screenings: Meetings with directors, arthouse film screenings and audio tours that bring everyday life to life and inspire cinematic storytelling about the local area. • Meetings, Debates and Co-design: Round-table discussions focusing on the relationship between life, work, services and the local area, as well as talks with activists and representatives of movements for the rights of people with disabilities.

• Training and Independence: Projects and courses focusing on communication and the organisation of work placements, designed to promote greater independence and a meaningful life experience for the young people involved.

Socialità in Festival is a community alliance supported by a vast network of social partners, foundations and third-sector organisations, united to break down cultural barriers and promote the value of diversity.

PIFF - Pinerolo Film Festival 2026

Pinerolo is once again set to become the capital of short films with the latest edition of the PIFF – Pinerolo Film Festival.

Behind this year’s packed programme lies an impressive and meticulous selection process carried out by the artistic committee: from over 350 entries received from all over the world, around 90 short films of the very highest standard were shortlisted, from which the 40 finalist short films and documentaries were chosen to be screened on the big screen during the festival.

The central theme and motto of this year’s festival is ‘Positive Perspectives’: whilst tackling complex and at times dramatic subjects — ranging from emotions (friendship, love in all its forms, family ties) to social challenges (femicide, war, integration, poverty, undeclared work), right through to health, education, bullying and our relationship with technology — the selected works leave plenty of room for humour, light-heartedness and irony.

The festival’s aim is precisely to convey, through cinema, a message of confidence, resilience and hope for the future.

Particularly exciting will be the inclusion of numerous films featuring children and young actors, who offer fresh, moving and surprising perspectives.

Great opera returns to the Incontro Theatre in Pinerolo with the 7th season of Pinerolo at the Opera.

Four evenings, six operas, a single theme: love, explored in all its infinite nuances.

• 20 November: Norma by Bellini. Who isn’t familiar with the immortal notes of Casta diva? It is the drama of a woman torn between duty and emotion, between the sacred and the profane, consumed by a love she cannot confess

• 13 February: L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti. From the emotions of Una furtiva lagrima emerges the most tender face of love: that which is born of hope, amidst shyness, anticipation and the fear of not being loved in return

• 13 March: Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni and Suor Angelica by Puccini. From the famous Intermezzo, a universal symbol of passion and tragedy, to Senza mamma, one of the most moving pieces in the operatic repertoire, dedicated to a mother’s absolute love
